I like this idea that you have for your floor. Our floor bedding has a couple of floors stripped away, so I will try your idea.

The repair is holding up well. I wasn’t sure it would but it’s still very strong and firm.

Can you give a recipe or more detailed description of how you did the entire repair?

I got my trailer as level as possible. I scraped all the rotten portion of the wood out and then some. I then used West System 2 part epoxy and cotton flox. You should be able to pick these up at any marine supply store. Mix up the epoxy and then start stirring in the flox. Keep adding flox until the stuff almost has the consistency of putty. Spread it onto the wood and let it harden. Then come back and sand level with the floor.

Thanks Scott. Did you cut the rotten wood floor all the way through (so you had a hole in the floor)? If so, when you applied the epoxy, how did you keep it from falling through the hole? Did you put some type of temporary board underneath to give you a type of base?

No, it didn’t rot all the way through. If it had I would have attached plywood underneath the hole as a base for the epoxy slurry. As it was the damaged area was bowl shaped.

I just bought a trailer and the previous owners covered up some rotten floor. I was bummed out, but I called a friend and he and I redid the whole floor and topped it off with hardwood. I am glad it was rotten, now it looks amazing!

how did it get wet?

Parked too close to my lawn and the sprinklers were spraying the bare wood from underneath the trailer.
